Bangladesh vs Australia – Australia won by 28 runs :

Australia won their T20 World Cup 2024 match against Bangladesh by 28 runs using the DLS method. The game took place in Antigua on Friday. After Australia captain Mitchell Marsh chose to bowl first, Bangladesh struggled from the start. Tanzid Hasan was out for zero in the first over bowled by Mitchell Starc. Later, Litton Das and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto tried to stabilize the innings, but Adam Zampa’s spin turned the tide in Australia’s favor. Zampa dismissed Litton Das for 16 runs, and Maxwell soon followed by getting Rishad Hossain out for 2 runs.

Bangladesh faced more setbacks as Pat Cummins took three wickets in the 20th over, completing a hat-trick. He dismissed Towhid Hridoy (40 runs), Mahmudullah (2 runs), and Mahedi Hasan (0 runs). Bangladesh could only manage to score 140 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis also contributed by dismissing Shakib Al Hasan for 8 runs.

In response, Australia started well in their chase. Rain interrupted the match twice during Bangladesh’s innings. The first interruption came after the second delivery of the seventh over when Australia was at 64 runs without losing any wickets. The second interruption happened after the second delivery of the 12th over when Australia’s score was 93 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. David Warner played a crucial unbeaten innings, scoring 53 runs not out.

Ultimately, Australia’s strong performance with both bat and ball secured them a victory in their Super 8 opener of the T20 World Cup 2024.
