In a historic victory, the Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA championship by dominating the Dallas Mavericks 106-88. Jayson Tatum led with 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Jaylen Brown, named Finals MVP, contributed 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

The Celtics surpassed their longtime rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, for the most NBA titles ever, achieving this milestone on the 16th anniversary of their 17th championship in the same arena.

“This night will stay with me forever,” said Tatum, reflecting on the significance of winning at home after previous playoff heartbreaks. The Celtics bounced back strongly after a disappointing game earlier in the series, taking control from the start and never looking back.

The crowd at TD Garden was electric, especially when Kristaps Porzingis returned from injury to bolster the Celtics’ efforts off the bench. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving struggled again against his former team, continuing his difficulties playing in Boston.

Brown, the Finals MVP, praised his teammates and highlighted their collective effort throughout the playoffs. The Celtics finished with a remarkable 16-3 record in the postseason, showcasing resilience after several near-misses in recent years.

Overall, the Celtics’ victory marks a triumphant turnaround from past disappointments, solidifying their place among basketball’s greatest franchises.
