Boston Celtics : From Founding to Dynasty

The Boston Celtics were founded in 1946 by Walter Brown, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. They’ve been known as the Boston Celtics ever since, as noted by the NBA.
They started in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) from 1946 (the year the league was formed) until 1949.
The Celtics were among the founding teams of what is now known as the National Basketball Association (NBA), which began in the 1949-1950 season after the BAA absorbed surviving teams from the National Basketball League (NBL).
In their early NBA seasons, the Celtics had a losing record, but things changed in the 1950s when coach Red Auerbach arrived, sparking the Celtics dynasty.
The team played at the Boston Garden until the 1995-1996 season, when they moved to a new arena, the TD Garden.
The Celtics compete in the Eastern Conference of the NBA.
