“Cambridge Observes Juneteenth: Closures, Parade, and Service Updates”

On Wednesday, June 19, several City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed to honor Juneteenth. This includes the Cambridge Cemetery offices at 76 Coolidge Avenue, although the gates will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If you park in Cambridge, you won’t need to pay at meters or parking pay stations that day. Trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. Street cleaning scheduled for June 19 was already done on May 30.

If you want reminders about trash collection or street cleaning changes, you can get them by text, email, or using the “Zero Waste Cambridge” app for iPhone/Android. You can also sign up for city newsletters, including the Daily Update, at Cambridgema.gov/Subscribe.

On June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Parade and Celebration will happen. The parade will start at Cambridge City Hall, go through Pleasant Street and Western Avenue, and end at Riverside Press Park. Expect some traffic and short road closures along the parade route.
