Emma Raducanu Stuns Maria Sakkari – Advances to Wimbledon Fourth Round

Emma Raducanu continued her impressive run at Wimbledon by defeating Maria Sakkari in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to reach the fourth round. This victory marks her second win over a top-10 ranked player in her career, and it’s her first against a seeded opponent at Wimbledon.

Raducanu, 21 years old, missed last year’s tournament due to surgeries on both wrists and an ankle. However, she has shown remarkable form this year, reminiscent of her 2021 US Open triumph.

In her match against Sakkari, Raducanu started strong by breaking serve in the first game and maintained her lead throughout. She displayed powerful shots and skillful lobs, which overwhelmed her Greek opponent.

Playing under the Centre Court roof with strong support from the home crowd, Raducanu’s confident service game in the second set sealed her victory. She has now won 94 out of 102 matches where she won the first set, demonstrating her ability to capitalize on early leads.

This win adds to Raducanu’s growing reputation as a force to be reckoned with in women’s tennis, especially on the prestigious grass courts of Wimbledon.
