Hemant Soren granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case

Former Chief Minister of jharkhand  Hemant Soren has been granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. The court found insufficient evidence to prove him guilty. Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay, who presided over the case, questioned the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) claim that their actions had prevented illegal land acquisition by Soren and others – calling the claim vague.

hemant soren  is the executive president of the JMM party, walked out of Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi after spending five months in custody. He secured his release by submitting a bail bond of Rs 50,000 along with two sureties of the same amount each. The 48-year-old politician was arrested on January 31 from his  residence by  ED.

The court noted that there were grounds to believe that Soren was not guilty of the alleged money laundering offence.
