Tank vs Martin – Gervonta Davis Scores Spectacular Knockout to Defend WBA Lightweight Title

Tank vs Martin:

Last night in Las Vegas ended with an exciting series of fights, topped off by a thrilling knockout.

Gervonta Davis kept his WBA lightweight title by beating Frank Martin in the main event with a knockout in the eighth round. Davis now has a record of 30 wins and no losses, with 28 wins by knockout. Martin, who hadn’t lost before, now has one loss.

Davis hadn’t fought since last April and started slowly, letting Martin win most of the early rounds.

As the fight went on, Davis did better. In the eighth round, he hit Martin with a strong uppercut while Martin was on the ropes. This surprised Martin, and Davis quickly followed with a big left hook that knocked Martin down and ended the fight.

With another good defense of his lightweight title, Davis can choose what to do next. He might fight Shakur Stevenson or Vasiliy Lomachenko, who are both lightweight champions. There’s also talk of fighting Isaac Cruz again, who has the 140-pound title.

“After winning,” Davis said, “I want to focus on training and staying ready. I felt a bit rusty, but I’m watching all those guys for future fights.”
